Russian Ballets - Pavlovich Diaghilev



Russian Ballets
Diaghilev created a dance company, Les Ballets Russes, a hundred years ago. The Ballets Russes were in Spain between 1914-1918 (years ofWorld War I).  So during this period it was impossible made any performance.
After this, they spent six month in Switzerland where the company was reformed. Then they made a tour for USA. When they finished, they returned to Spain where Alfonso XIII support the company and allowed them to act in Madrid and Barcelona. Alfonso XIII also helped to return to London where they had a great success.
In 192O Barcelona became and ideal place to starting the tour. The Spanish artists gained importance in this area following the way of Jose Maria Being the first non-Russian who designed a ballet by Diaghilev. In this design include names such as Juan Gris, Joan Miró, Pablo Picasso and especially Peter Plum. Theyhelp design and costumes.
This company is basically a dance company, but they mixed with theatre and art.

Diaghliev founded the first magazine specializing in arts in Russia, during the beginning of his career.
